Sony

2. How long have you had the system/been actively using the system?

1 year

3. What has your experience been with:

The equipment/hardware: Superb

The software: Does everything we need it to do.

The integration of hardware and software: Very satisfied.

4. Have you found that the following have lived up to the claims of the vendor?

The equipment/hardware: Yes

The software: Yes

The integration of hardware and software: Yes

5. What has your experience been with the vendor in terms of:

Quality of installation: Excellent

Meeting schedules set: Excellent

Skill and knowledge of hardware/software/how to integrate existing language learning software with the system: Top notch

Efficiency of Service: That is why we chose them.

Return calls promptly?: Always

Get whatever problems you may have had solved promptly?: Yes, our only problems have been with our own IT Department. CTS has always done its part and has worked very well with our IT Department. We do have some internal IT problems that sometimes slows the resolution of any problems we have had. These have been minor problems and have nothing to do with the Sony system itsellf.

Effectiveness of Service-that is, after the vendor solved the problem, were you satisfied with the solution? Yes. CTS will keep working on any problem until it is completely solved.

6. What has your experience been with the vendor in terms of training of lab technicians and/or managers and faculty? Have the following met your needs:

The initial training: Yes

Amount: Very adequate. Faculty needs vary depending on how tech savvy they are. CTS provudes what is needed.

Frequency: As mush as we need. When we call, CTS comes. CTS also has Sony user group meetings three times per year in addition. This has been very helpful to faculty. We learn as much from each other, get ideas, etc. This is a great support.

Responsiveness to repeat calls for training of newly hired faculty/lab staff or faculty that needed more extensive training after the initial training: Very fine.

7.

Describe the process you used to decide which lab system you wanted. What, if any, other lab systems did you consider? Who was the vendor? Why did you choose the system/ vendor that you did?

We considered several. This was a process of many years. In the end, it was between Tandberg/ETU and Sony/CTS. We chose Sony and CTS because our checks with past references led us to believe that CTS would provide suprerior support, training, and efficiency. Both lab systems were good. Comparable in terms of capabilities as far as we could tell. We liked, however, that CTS is in Connecticut, that is has put in far more digital labs than ETI, has more experience, that the parts and software are made in the US and are readily available and that schools using Sony and CTS were satisfied.
